Eilat – from the point of view of a woman
Winter is already at hand, but I still want to lie on the beach under the gentle southern sun. Where then to go? If for you, King Solomon and Queen of Sheba are authorities, then here is a piece of advice for you: go to Eilat. Ever since ancient times, this oasis in the desert on the Red Sea coast is considered in every sense the royal place for relaxation. And today tourists from all over the world easily go there. Gradient Travel Agency sends Russian travelers to Eilat.
Nature fashioned at the northern end of the Red Sea, at the southernmost point of Israel, an oasis of exceptional beauty: mountains painted in purple tones, dazzling white sands of beaches, turquoise sea … And – the sun, which has received an eternal residence here: the average maximum temperature in Eilat – from + 21C in January to + 39C in July. At the same time, there is practically no rain. According to long-term observations of weather forecasters, on the coast of the Gulf of Eilat the sky remains cloudless 359 days a year. And the warm deep-water currents contribute to the fact that the water in the sea is like fresh milk, and this is already all year round.
If the wise Solomon is not an authority for you, and you don’t even trust weather forecasters at all, then at least believe the birds: when Europe plunges into a cold, dull winter, they go to warm themselves in warm apartments in Eilat. However, the nature of Eilat is replete not only with birds. “The Gulf of Eilat is home to a diverse range of marine flora and fauna and one of the world’s richest coral colonies,” the guidebook says, and does not deceive even a bit.
At the same time, no one has been ordered to enter the Coral Reserve. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the coral reef, you can go down to the seabed with scuba diving. And you want to look at the myriad of colorful fish without even soaking your feet – you can take a trip on a sightseeing boat with a glass bottom or dive into the depths of the bay in a submarine.
Fans of more acute sensations have the opportunity to observe the life of sharks, electric stingrays and giant sea turtles in an underwater observatory. And just a few meters from it, in the dolphinarium, they are waiting for a pleasant meeting with trained dolphins.
If it’s not enough for you to be passive observers of nature, then you have the widest opportunities for outdoor activities in Eilat. You can choose from: gulf cruises, underwater safaris, sailboats, windsurfing, water skiing, scooters, pedal boats, fishing, et cetera.
And the sea will get tired – there is something to do in the desert or in the nearby mountains. Riding a horse or camel, cycling or jeep, in a comfortable bus or on foot – from Eilat you can get to such reserved places as the Red Canyon, Bird Park (bird lovers come from all over the world there), as well as to Timna National Park , where you can see with your own eyes the legendary mines of King Solomon and the rare beauty of the rock, between which at one time ran the ancient trade route – Spice Road.
Those who are not afraid of more serious travels, I want to remind you that Israel is a small country and in the north of Eilat – the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Lake Kinneret. And south – Mount Sinai, where, according to legend, Moses received the tablets of the Covenant. Despite the fact that Sinai is located in Egypt, it is most convenient to get there from the Israeli side, from Eilat.
However, even if you just roll around on the beach with a lazy jellyfish, you won’t get bored in Eilat in a month. In the restaurants there, the service style is refined, relaxing and soothing; cuisine – for every taste (Middle Eastern, European, Japanese, African, Latin American); music – until the morning.
Eilat hosts a variety of music festivals all year round – jazz, rock and pop. The city also has a lot of discos and dance halls. The increase in vitality in Eilat is also facilitated by the fact that this oasis is a duty-free zone. Any purchase here becomes especially attractive. This applies to both the most ordinary souvenirs and the goods of the most famous companies, and even diamonds and Israeli gold. It is clear that after a successful shopping and a pleasantly spent vacation, the prospect of a long Russian winter does not seem so bleak.
By the way, the regulars of Eilat claim that upon returning from Eilat even “blue stockings” go like hot cakes. And then everything is OK at work. Men tend to go up. And the children are exactly a year old, before the next trip to Eilat, neither angina nor bronchitis takes.
