Red Sea, beautiful Eilat
And yet it came, the day of departure to Moscow! But I really wanted to stay in Eilat, even for at least a week.
The first minutes after arriving at this Israeli resort are somewhat reminiscent of a contrast shower: cold – hot, cold – hot. Cold (relatively cool cabin of the airbus) – hot (heated air of the runway) – cold (air-conditioned interior of a comfortable bus) – hot (short run from the bus step to the hotel door) – cold (phew, again – air conditioning, cool …).
The pianist in the lobby rapturously raises “Black Eyes” and “Kalinka.” Yes, thoroughly prepared for the arrival of guests from Russia in Eilat. And they decided to show our group, composed of Moscow journalists and employees of the travel agency “INTERGARANT”, as they say, “goods face.”
In Eilat, the main Israeli resort, about forty hotels – for every taste and size of the wallet. “INTERGARANT” invites tourists to opt for the luxurious “Sun Suite” – explaining that the two- and three-room rooms of this hotel are especially convenient for families. As a mother and as a woman – I confirm. However, we are here not only to enjoy the comfort of hotels.
The sea is the main attraction of Eilat. Without unpacking our suitcases, we rush to the beach – if only from Moscow slush. They Southerners do not understand.
Having plenty of swimming, I remember about water activities – there are an infinite number of them: underwater safaris, windsurfing, water skiing, scooters, pedal boats, yachting.
The underwater world of the Red Sea is considered one of the most diverse. To study it, I choose the simplest and cheapest way – a mask and fins. I’m crying twenty-one shekels, which corresponds to about seven dollars, and the equipment is mine. Slowly plunge into the warm transparent waves. Beautiful, but you can only breathe through your mouth, and this is somehow distracting. I probably should have taken scuba gear. Although scuba gear, it seems, is also possible only by mouth? I do not know. However, it’s still not up to scuba gear – tomorrow we have an excursion to the Eilat Sea Observatory, the third largest in the world.
In general, there is something to do: you can walk to the border with Jordan (five minutes walk), go to the ancient city of Petra, you can go to Egypt and drive to Mount Sinai, where, according to legend, God handed the tablets of the Testament to Moses (everything is at hand , the entire resort is seven kilometers of the Red Sea). You can stay still and have some evening coffee in the Bedouin tent. But to be honest, in my opinion, Eilat was invented for another: for lazy wallowing on the beach, for thoughtless rocking on the waves, for philosophical peering through dark glasses at the juicy blue of Eilat sky.
At the end of the tour, I got a pleasant surprise from the same “INTERGARANT” – a safari in the Eilat Mountains. On camels, bicycles or jeeps? We chose a jeep and rushed – higher and higher, writing out steep turns and choking with enthusiastic exclamations. Here it is, the end point of our route – the top of Yoshafat Mountain, 736 meters above sea level. After a small cocktail, pacified, we go downstairs and … remember that tomorrow we will fly to Moscow. And I wanted to stay another week.
And only flying up to Moscow, I realized: how – we did not go to the Bird Park? Have not seen the Red Canyon? Have you been to Timna Park?
