The sea is calling

Israel is certainly lucky with the Dead Sea: the name itself attracts many people who need treatment or prevention of health. The fact that the level of medical care in Israel is not inferior to the leading European clinics, but at the same time it is more affordable, is encouraging potential patients.

The words “medical resort on the Dead Sea” usually means the hotel town of Ein Bokek, which is located on the southern tip of the west coast. You can go from end to end in an hour. The whole resort consists of a couple of dozen 3-5 * hotels, several clinics, shops, a small shopping center, several cafes and a couple of restaurants. The atmosphere here is specific: silence, calm and, at first glance, boredom. But people go to Ein Bokek precisely for this: take a break from the bustle and undergo a course of treatment. Therefore, there are no discos and noisy promenades in the town and are not expected.

Unlike many European medical resorts, in Ein Bokek the process of working with tourists is organized as follows: they live in the hotel they want, and they go to separate clinics for medical procedures. Russian tour operators work mainly with the famous Dead Sea Clinic.

Before going to medical procedures, each person without fail passes a doctor’s consultation. Without it, you can not only begin treatment, but simply plunge into the Dead Sea.

Indications for treatment at the Dead Sea primarily include diseases of the musculoskeletal system and gastrointestinal tract, dermatological problems, ENT pathology and neuralgia. For treatment, the clinics use Dead Sea salts and mud, as well as natural healing oils.

In addition, you can undergo health and beauty treatments (“anti-cellulitis”, “anti-stress”, etc.), conduct rehabilitation therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome and after operations and injuries. Different types of massage, mud wraps and applications for both the whole body and its parts, various peels with salt and added oils are in great demand.

For cosmetic procedures, you do not need to go to the clinic at all. Almost every hotel has its own spa center, in addition to a visit to the jacuzzi, saunas and pools, you can make a mask or wrap using products of the Dead Sea. However, in this case, a doctor’s consultation is required, because, for example, mud packs are not compatible with high blood pressure.

A special situation with swimming in the Dead Sea. Doctors do not recommend a healthy person to spend more than 15 minutes in it in one call, and to make no more than four such visits per day.

If health allows you to make short absences, you should go on a couple of excursions – the blessing is around biblical places. The most popular tourist destination is Jerusalem – it is located about an hour from the Dead Sea. This tour is usually for the whole day with a visit to the main shrines: the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Calvary, the last five stops of the Way of the Cross. Also, tourists are shown the old part of Jerusalem.

The whole day takes a trip to Bethlehem, to the temple of the Nativity of Christ. And if you do not want long-distance travel, in the vicinity there is the Massada National Park. You can walk (or by funicular) to the Snake Path to the top of the mountain to King Herod’s fortress and take a walk along it in the company of a player with an audio tour in Russian. The Dead Sea is the most famous and largest medical resort in Israel, but not the only one. Asthmatics, for example, are advised by Arad. It is located 40 km from the Dead Sea, on a mountain plateau in the Judean desert. The combination of dry mountain air and Dead Sea mineral fumes characteristic of this resort are ideal climatic conditions for the treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract, in particular bronchial asthma. Near the city is a specialized clinic. Until recently, tours to Arad were not made for Russians, but now the largest operators are signing contracts with local clinics, and soon the resort will appear in catalogs.

Another medical resort in Israel is the city of Tiberias, which is located on the shores of Lake Galilee, otherwise the Sea of Galilee. According to the Bible, it was here that Jesus walked on water. Here he delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Pilgrims come to Tver all year round, and not only them: the city is famous for its hydrogen sulfide springs, known since ancient times. Now along the shore of the lake there are hotels, many of which have medical facilities. They specialize in hydrogen sulfide baths, but other wellness treatments are available.

The huge complex Carmel Forest Spa Resort 5 * near Haifa deserves special mention. It has all the conditions for relaxation: a green grove, a view of Mount Carmel and the Mediterranean Sea. On the territory of several hundred hectares, two-story bungalows are scattered. Here on the territory there is a large spa center, where after consulting with a doctor you can arrange yourself an “anti-stress” or “anti-cellulite”.
