For hundreds of years, humanity has not ceased to wonder at the harsh lifelessness of this sea. This is the water basin with the highest salinity in the world – it reaches 32%. This indicator is 8 times higher than the salinity of the Atlantic Ocean, 7 times higher than the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, 14.5 times higher than the Black Sea and 40 times higher than the Baltic Sea. This concentration of bromine, chlorine and magnesium salts makes it impossible for any plant or animal organism to exist, hence the name Dead Sea.

This is the deepest basin, the lowest point on the surface of the globe. It is located 405 m below sea level. The amazing nature of these places has no analogues. Truly fantastic landscapes await travelers here. In the west, steep cliffs of red sandstone rise upward, yellowish limestone blocks shade their unusual color, and snow-white salt marshes dazzle under the burning sun. We were about to meet Caesarea, an ancient port built by King Herod and now located about 40 km from Tel Aviv. As soon as you enter the territory of Caesarea National Park, it becomes clear that this is not just separate archaeological excavations, but a real city where you can walk for more than one day. No wonder tourists are offered several routes. From a very quick acquaintance for one or two hours to a long walk lasting 6 hours with an examination of the numerous historical and archaeological sights of this wonderful place.

One of the most important place for the Christian world in the Sea of Galilee is the city of Capernaum. He is mentioned in the New Testament as the birthplace of the apostles Peter, Andrew, John and James. This city is very ancient, archaeologists are constantly working here. Some of the ancient finds are kept in many museums around the world.
Jesus came to Capernaum after leaving Nazareth. And the city became the center of the preaching work of Christ, here he performed many of his miracles: healed the mother-in-law of Peter lying in a fever, healed and called for the apostolic ministry of Matthew, healed the servant of the Roman centurion who was at death, who built a synagogue for the Jews.
