The Dead Sea

For hundreds of years, humanity has not ceased to wonder at the harsh lifelessness of this sea. This is the water basin with the highest salinity in the world – it reaches 32%. This indicator is 8 times higher than the salinity of the Atlantic Ocean, 7 times higher than the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, 14.5 times higher than the Black Sea and 40 times higher than the Baltic Sea. This concentration of bromine, chlorine and magnesium salts makes it impossible for any plant or animal organism to exist, hence the name Dead Sea.

He is mentioned in the New Testament as the birthplace of the apostles Peter, Andrew, John and James. This city is very ancient, archaeologists are constantly working here. Some of the ancient finds are kept in many museums around the world.

Jesus came to Capernaum after leaving Nazareth. And the city became the center of the preaching work of Christ, here he performed many of his miracles: healed the mother-in-law of Peter lying in a fever, healed and called for the apostolic ministry of Matthew, healed the servant of the Roman centurion who was at death, who built a synagogue for the Jews. But despite all this, only a few believed in Jesus’ preaching. The inhabitants of Capernaum drove him out of the synagogue. For this, the city was cursed and likened to Sodom. Continue reading
